A Dream

I had a dream last night...

I was standing on a cliff overlooking the sea
watching the white gulls flying free,
I made a wish so I could take flight
and soar away into the morning light.

To fly,to laugh,to break free
of all the bonds that were restraining me.
I hoped to be able to have the chance
at seeing the world from a different glance.

My wish was granted and off I flew
to have a try at something new,
All my fears and sorrows fell away
as the world passed beneath me for a day.

I saw the sun dance over distant lands
and watched it leave its mark on the desert sands,
I laughed as I travelled far and wide
and I spread my wings out to enjoy the ride.

Tears of joy and sorrow appeared on my face
when I reached my starting place,
For I had come to realize without a doubt
that this is what life was all about.

The hurt,the pain,and the tears
will always be with me through the years,
I cannot fly away from my sorrow
but I can always dream of a better tomorrow.
